I Taught Myself Piano at 17 (but Didn’t Understand Why Until 50 Years Later)

Band nerd, 1969. Band nerd, 1989.
My first keyboard, 1972: I bought a Wurlitzer electronic piano after hearing “Stay With Me” by the Faces. It convinced me I needed to be as loud as all the lead guitarists I’d play with someday.
Composing for my video company made decades of music experience finally pay off. But that wasn’t my goal when I started playing 30 years earlier and there were no such things as “digital” or the internet.
Enjoying music in retirement by parodying the works of truly talented people and suffering no moral anguish while shamelessly ripping them off.
